Can I add family group trees which start with different people?

I would like to invite people to my family group, but they would all have different interests. Can I add a family group tree that starts with one of the chidlren from my first marriage, and then add a second family group tree that begins with a child from my second marriage, so they only see relatives of direct relevance to them? I cn't find a way to start a family group tree from a particular person. Please help.

I haven't played around enough with multiple Family Group Trees to say for certain, but I am pretty sure that when a member of a Family Group Tree signs in and looks at the tree, the tree will start with that user. When you sign on, it should always start with you. When one of your children signs in, that child should see it start with himself or herself. Likewise when another child signs in to that same tree, or a different one you have created, the tree should start with that child. This is because when the various people you have invited to join the tree join a group, their user account will be linked to their profile in that group and makes that profile their starting person.

Thanks Gordon. That makes sense. I hope that's right.

@Frank1251 No, family group trees weren't made that way. @Gordon Collett explained it pretty well. You need to remember that the family group trees are about living people, they do connect to the deceased ancestors in the FamilySearch Tree, but the goal is to see where I fit in the tree, not who our common ancestor is.

The ability to choose your own 'Starting person' is a bit of a misnomer, it would more appropriately be, "who am I in this tree?"

You could add all of your children to a single family group tree, or create separate family groups for each of your marriages. It depends on what you want the scope of your group(s) to be.

You can add unconnected individuals in your family group tree…but since the point of the family group tree is to connect and share information, photos and memories on living family members…an unconnected person defeats that purpose.
