Information on a surety bond
In my research, I have stumbled upon a guardianship/surety bond, and I don't have too much experience with those types of records. I've searched the Wiki for background information and I didn't find any information and I checked the Ancestry Guide, and I didn't find a lot of information either. Where is the best place that would give me more information?

@NathanEichenberger1 Can you provide the URL of the record you found? It might be easier for someone to help if we can see the specifics of time period and location.

Image Group Number: 005642034In this same set, is more information going back 22 images, but that is referring to the guardianship not the land.

Judy G Russell, The Legal Genealogist, is a good resource for learning about genealogy and the law.
This blog post is from 2018, but it covers the basics. https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2018/12/11/the-rules-of-guardianship/As Judy points out, we have to start by understanding the laws of the time and place. Every state had different laws and regulations. This 2017 post has pointers for Iowa. https://www.legalgenealogist.com/2017/10/17/finding-iowa-laws/
You can also post on question on Judy's blog, if you need help finding the exact laws. Look for the "Ask TLG" on that blog post.Best of luck.

You're welcome, but Judy deserves the thanks. She always has just what I need on her website. I dropped her a note to let her know I had recommended her, again.
