Won't you join me with a warm welcome to all the newest members of the Poland Research group?

Welcome to: @ShelleWells, @EdwardBaranowski1, @ChristineWebb5, @Ted275, @Barry Krueger, @JosefPetr, @karakahler, @Alison2632, @Tanya Penix Sharp & @Jodi Deneen

Would you new members tell about who, where or when you are researching? What is your interest in Poland Research? It is possible (I've seen it recently!) that you might be researching on the same family as someone else in the group!

    Pozdrowienia z Czech!
I'm doing genealogy for many years, most of my ancestors are from Czechia, but there were exceptions. Living quite close to the borders, it would be strange if having no ancestors from Poland, and here I am.
As many others, my ancestors left the area of Wieliczka and went to industrialized Ostrava region in Austria-Hungary. Poland parish books are not so easily accessible as in Czechia, but I'm doing slow progress thanks to Geneteka project.
It is not only about me, my wife is also having Polish roots, her maiden name is Duda (same as former president) and yes, her ancestors came from today Poland, too.

I realized just few weeks ago, that there is a community on the FamilySearch platform, hoping it will be amazing same way as the other communities I've met already.
I've also applied for membership in Czech group, feeling I may be much more helpful there. But hey, if your ancestors came from Czechia, I'm happy to help.

Good evening - Thankyou for the welcome. I have recently learned about this group. My ancestors were mainly ethnic Germans - those who settled in Poland did so before the time of the Prussian partitions, and as early the late 1600s! My forebears left Poland and migrated to Australia between 1841 and 1858. I am researching my Krueger family (who settled in Suchary (Slupca, Wielkopolskie, …) and various families who settled in Nekla Hauland (now Nekielka, Wrzesnia, Wielkopolskie, …_). One of these latter families includes the Prietz name which appears in this group. I am about to start researching Volhynia where many of my ancestor's siblings migrated - but it's very new and unknown to me! Barry Krueger

    Thanks for the welcome!

I know a lot about my Polish ancestors—especially on the Kossak side from Chorzele—but seek to learn more especially about my Baran line, from Horodok (Khmelnytskyi Oblast now in Ukraine), if at all possible. I've made slow progress over the last 6 years and hope to learb more.
