Hello all,

my ancestor William Henry Smith was born in Egypt in 1809 however this is all the information have on his child hood. possible parents names are Francis and Ann smith. i do know he was in England by 1837 but do not have any record as to why or what happened to his parents. William married Eliza Ann Smith in 1837 and had 9 children.

I have searched on ancestry and my heritage but have found nothing further. I wondered if there was any other websites or documents I could try?

I am fairly new to this group and I see that your question has not been responded to. You mentioned:

Do you any documentation that your ancestor, William Henry Smith, was born in Egypt? You also mentioned that you searched Ancestry and My Heritage. Have you used the Wiki here in this group for Egypt? If you go to the top of this group page, you will see:

Each country has a hyperlink to it's own Wiki page with a wealth of places on where to search for more documents and information. I have hyperlinked Egypt in blue for you, in the above question. Please let us know if this information is helpful.

Good morning: Do you have a PID (Personal ID #) you can provide from the FamilySearch account. It makes it easier to start looking for other records. Do you have any idea where he moved back to in England? Unfortunately William Smith is about the most common name in England. If you know what town or area he moved into you can then start your search for records, death, marriage, census, land or deed transfers, etc. You can start in the FamilySearch Wiki pages as stated by LindaTG above but move your search over to England and whatever county or town they lived in. You can start here if you are a beginner, or move on to the county involved.
