https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6KKV-K5PM I'm trying to decipher this record. It's on on the left side of the book. I'm looking at Gilbert J. Tisdale at the sixth column to the left. His entry is towards the bottom of that table and the range listed for his entry is W 1/2 SE 1/4. The full line is W 1/2 SE 1/4 | 80 | 250 | 18 | 10 | Gilbert Tisdale. The date is June 29,1857 on the right side, and he has 143 acres.

I see what you see so far, are you looking for the name of the person the land was sold to or something else? Is the name possibly Venil or Venel Vanons? I see some Vanons' having lived in Minnesota.. Best I have for now. Send back if you are looking for a different part of the record.

I'm looking for the description of the land that Gilbert either bought or sold to Venil Vanons. As you saw,it's hard to decipher and intermingled with other information. I see Gilbert is in between the Venil Vanon and Henry A Swift, I'm not sure if which one of them bought land from Gilbert. I do know Gilbert had 143 acres and has a date of June 29,1857.

I tried using a reverse color image of the writing and can see it a bit better, you can use free programs located on the web I used Invert Image. Or even ChatGPT can assist.

Maybe if you try this you can see better than I can. Sometimes reversing it makes the images pop out better.

I was able to upload it into ChatGPT and in short this is the result: In 1855, Gilbert J. Tisdale purchased 80 acres of land in what would become Somerset Township, Steele County, Minnesota. The land was legally described as the east half of the southeast quarter of Section 6, Township 106 North, Range 20 West of the 5th Principal Meridian. This area was part of the expanding frontier in southern Minnesota, just south of present-day Owatonna. Gilbert’s land patent was officially granted on June 29, 1857, the same year he was enumerated in the Minnesota State Census, living in Somerset Township. His parcel was located in the southeastern portion of Section 6, placing it in the northwest part of the township. This connection between the land records and census provides strong evidence of Gilbert’s early presence in Steele County and highlights his role as one of the area's pioneer settlers.
