Marriage Information Tagging

I either have not been paying attention or this is a new flag:

If this is going to used, then we need help.

I have hundreds of marriages that were entered and sourced before tagging was instituted in Family Tree and during the period when attaching an indexed marriage source only put the source on the individual's source page, not in the couple event pop up.

This means that the only way currently to dismiss this flag for these couples is to:

  1. Find an indexed marriage source on one of the couple.
  2. Click on Review Attachments to open the source linker.
  3. Click on Detach on the spouse.
  4. Click on the marriage information under the spouse to move it from the left to the right column.
  5. Click attach
  6. Leave the source linker
  7. Click on the marriage information to open couple event pop up.
  8. Check to see if a duplicate couple event was created. This will usually occur.
  9. Delete the duplicate couple event.
  10. Click on the Edit pencil next to the couple event that was kept.
  11. Tag the source to the event.

This is too much work. We need to be able to tag source on an individual's source tab to a couple event or to be able to easily attach a source already attached to an individual to a couple event so it can be tagged to the event.

    This thread

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/169675/creating-a-source-for-a-marriage

    is relevant here.

I suggested the following Idea on 27 Nov 2024 but have had no feedback (and obviously it's not currently visible on the Ideas page, since none of the English language ones are) - any backup anyone feels like giving it would be very welcome!

What I would like to see when I am in a marriage event and click Add Tag, is this:

    I like that @Gordon Collett.

The fundamental problem here, though, is the second class status of all relationships in the FS UI. Every business trip my grandfather took across the Atlantic is more obvious on the UI than his 50 year marriage. (Record display does a miles better job on this.) Maybe the DQS initiative's having picked marriage tags up will result in a flood of requests for UI improvement ...
