Decipher word/text in OPR

Hello,

I haven't been able to determine the "word" before Patrick Marshall's name in this OPR for the 1739 marriage of Alexander Maxwell and Elizabeth Marshall. I hope you'll be able to help me. Is it his profession?

    Hi @KrisNelson1 I believe you’ll find the word is ‘deceast’, which I understand to be an abbreviated or alternative spelling of ‘deceased’ from the time.
    You’ll see here in The Register of Marriages for the Parish of Edinburgh, 1595-1800 that the spelling in that form comes up quite frequently.
