trouble uploading Gedcom

@mariagiforos1 thank you for testing early access CET. There is not really a secret to a successful upload. It is very dependent on the 3d party software that you use, what fields you have used in that software (especially user defined fields), and the information/data in that software. @Robert Kehrer is the product manager for CET and has made many comments throughout this group. Please read the discussions from other users with upload errors for additional information and comments. As CET develops and the 3d party vendors upgrade their products, many changes will evolve to a very smooth transition - without the necessity of a GEDCOM upload.

@mariagiforos1, we are in the process of documenting failures to create a tree and minimizing the upload errors. I’d like to have a software engineer take a look at your upload. Can you tell me the name of your file and the general day & time’ish you uploaded the Gedcom?
BTW, the size of the tree is not the issue. Our system accepts files up to 300MB and hundreds of thousands of tree persons.0 -
@mariagiforos1 Did you remove your GEDCOM file from CET?

@Robert Kehrer I uploaded a GEDCOM I created programatically (i.e. not using 3rd party software). The file loaded successfully except for the following problems:
- When the tree says it is done loading, indexing is apparently still going on in the background. The find function doesn't work until a while after the tree says it is completely loaded.
- A 2 NOTE tag under a 1 SOUR tag for an event produces a note under "Collaborations" and in the Notes box, but the note isn't directly attached to the event. It seems to me like a better place for the note would be in the "Why You Believe This Information is Correct" box which is directly visible when the note is changed.
- The contributor of the data isn't immediately available for most entries, although it does show up eventually.
- When I invite someone to be part of the group which can edit a tree, the link assumes that the person is already logged into FamilySearch in their default browser. If not, they get a 404 error.
- The link to invite someone to be part of the group who can edit the tree only works for the first person to use the link. I have to generate a new link to add an additional person. This feature isn't obvious from the information on the screen.
- I couldn't figure out a good way to attach a source linking to the CET from the main FamilySearch tree. Be best I could do is copy the URL and construct a source by hand.
- The count of people in the CET varied each time I accessed it and didn't match the number of individuals in the GEDOM file exactly.

@R. Steven Turley Thank you for your interest in testing early access CET and for your feedback. I am going to copy your comment into a new discussion in this group for continuity. We try to keep topics together in the same discussion, but since you have several topics here, I will put them into their own discussion. The new discussion can be found here

We appreciate your support and engagement. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any future questions or concerns.
Thank you for using CET.
