How long was compulsory military service in the Hungarian militia for a man in 1883?

When did the Hungarian army switch over from the English system to the metric system? Here in 1883 the muster roll-book headings were printed "inches", but the officers wrote in meters, so I know that it was around this time, but I want to find a reference to pin down the date of the switchover. In 1888, the headings were printed with "meter".

    Hello @A Xo,

See the following link from FamilySearch: the second paragraph states that in 1868 universal conscription went into effect in Austria-Hungary and each conscript had to serve three years: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Austro-Hungarian_Empire_Military_Records#:~:text=Every%20male%20citizen%20was%20obligated,until%20the%20end%20of%20WWI.

The following article from Wikipedia states that Hungary adopted the metric system in 1874 and it became compulsory in 1876:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_units_of_measurement#:~:text=The%20metric%20system%20was%20adopted,has%20been%20compulsory%20since%201876

I hope this helps you with your research.

    Best regards, Robert Seal_1
