Accessing English parish marriage record image without visiting FHL in the US
Hi,
I have found on the Ancestry website a parish marriage record dated 7 March 1807, in All Saints, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland, England for Daniel Munro to Margaret Kenions. Through Autosomal DNA testing, I have found Daniel may have been a son of my 4th great-grandad Alexander Munro.
I would like to see either a scan or microfiche of the original record because sometimes they give extra details that are not given on the transcribed Ancestry record. Ancestry gives the FHL film numbers: 1068967, 95005, 95006, 95007, 95009, but it appears that I can only access these by visiting FHL in the US. The problem is I live in London, England and cannot get there.
I have checked the Newcastle Upon Tyne Council website and they appear only to have statutory records from 1837 onward and not the parish records.
There is a website I have used in the past called Durham Records Online who have sent me photo copies of parish records in the past through the post after I had found them on their online database where they are transcribed. However, they do not have this marriage record from 1807 on their database.
Does anyone know where I could get a scan or photo copy of the original 1807 marriage record without visiting FHL ?
Thanks,
Mike Munro.

Have you checked FindMyPast? I have found some film scans there when researching my grandmother’s family. Maybe someone else knows about Northumberland, in particular.

Here is the link for the collection: England, Northumberland, Parish Registers, 1538-1950

Have you tried searching here?

You would probably be best to contact the record custodian - Northumberland Archives - if you want a copy of the original parish record entry. Make it clear you want the PR entry, otherwise they might provide you a copy of the Bishop's Transcript version, which will tell you no more than the basic details of the event. There will be a charge for providing a copy, but I fear this is probably your only option. Contact details are found as below.

You will need to contact the Ashington office to confirm availability and costs.
The FreeREG website is usually a good source for Northumberland and Durham records, but in this case they only have the transcript from the BTs version.
A word of warning: do not expect to find that much detail even from the original record. I have copies of marriage records from Tynemouth parish that do not even show the marital status of the bride and groom, so the only extra detail you might obtain is the names of the witnesses.

What I have just found will probably be far more useful than obtaining that marriage entry copy. The details given in baptism entries for the 1798-1812 Diocese of Durham parish records are usually very helpful, as is so in the case of baptism records of children to this couple.
See https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/5b6eb5f4f493fd7709c47555/alexander-munro-baptism-northumberland-newcastle-upon-tyne-1809-07-16?locale=en and https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_records/5818cc47e93790ec8b2fa8e1/mary-munro-baptism-northumberland-newcastle-upon-tyne-1811-07-28?locale=en
These pages provide excellent detail of the couple - well, we only know Daniel was a native of Scotland and his occupation, but Margaret's father and native parish are given, as you will see.
BTW - You will probably find the images for these two records by going to https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/image/index?owc=9K5M-L29%3A13617901%3Fcc%3D1309819&cc=1309819
and searching the records for Newcastle All Saints and St Andrew parishes.
Please let us know of any progress you make or any further help required.
