Born in Ireland in 1773, I've found Josephs first wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Hilldrith (1772-1821), married 14th August 1791 in Manchester so it would appear he left Ireland before he was 18, unfortunately I cant find him or his family in Ireland.

Joseph and Betty had a daughter, Jane in 1800 and I have records of both her and Betty until her death in 1821.

Josephs appears on the 1841 UK census, remarried to Sarah but given she's not my direct relative I'm not looking to follow this line, Joseph died in 1845 In Stockport and I have a record of this death.

I'm interested in finding Josephs birth in Ireland and his extended family but I'm drawing a blank via the usual sources, any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

    Good afternoon, @Clifford885
Do you know what religion the family practiced? You are searching before Civil Registration began in Ireland. Church records may exist, but where we look and what we may find will depend on the religion.
Do you have anything on what Irish county for Joseph? Sometimes, the English census takers will include the name of the county in Ireland or, when we are really lucky, the Irish parish name may be included.
Anything else you can share may help us help you.
That second marriage may be useful, even if you are not searching for Sarah; that record may include the name of Joseph's father.

A good point regarding the marriage to Sarah regarding Josephs father, I'll take a look at that.

The 1841 census in the UK was the first one undertaken and didnt include places of birth unfortunately, I dont have the actual marriage certificate for Betty, just a source on Family Search giving a date of 14 August 1791 with an event place of Cathedral, Manchester, however, his daughter Janes baptism is a church named St Mary's in Stockport which is an Anglican church.

For others who may view this thread, the profile for Joseph Henderson is https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/MD5D-35J

Clifford, there are a number of other children in that family, all baptized in the same church. Adding the rest of the family may reveal the information you seek. For example, a son, Joseph, has his mother's maiden name, Hildrith as his middle name.

Still drawing blanks, I cant find any marriage to a Sarah between 1821, Bettys death and 1845, Josephs death.

Looking at the children has not given any clues either, this looks like one of those brick walls I cant get through 😣
