Translation Request Hungarian Marriage Record 1794
Please verify what I think I know about this Marriage record. I believe the date is 17 Feb 1794, the groom is Gyorgy Török and the bride is Borbala Ivan. This record can be found on FHL Film 623962, Image 36, page 83, record 6. The village is Abaujvar, Abauj-Torna, Hungary.
Thank You

Die 17. Febr. 'Sadányi Lakos Török György Ujváron Ivány Borbálával Copuláltatott az Ord.Mr. által.
17th Feb. Zsadány resident György Török was married in Ujvár with Borbála Ivány by the ordained minister.
I'm guessing on the abbreviation for the officiant, but it's the same in every entry, so whatever the specifics, the broad meaning is pretty clear.
I'm also rather guessing on the bit between Török and Borbála, because I think the ink is water-soluble and that part of the page got wet.

Julia, Thank you for the translation. I have found the birth, marriage and death records for the children of Gyorgy and Borbola in the Zsadany film 2010713. Since they were married in 1794, and if I assume Gyorgy was at least 20 years old when they married he has to be born before 1774. The 2010713 film earliest record is from 1783 so I was not able to find Gyorgy's birth record. Are you aware of any records from Zsadany prior to 1783 that are online? I did not find a death record for Gyorgy in the 2010713 film, but I believe I found a death record for Borbola but I can't be sure because the death record is using her maiden name of Ivan and it does not mention her husband Gyorgy. The death record states she was 58 years old when she died in 1826 which would make her about 26 years old when she married in 1794, this seems reasonable. If you would care to look at Borbala's death record it can be found on Film 2010713, file 447, page 104, record I. If you have any suggestions as to where I could look for Gyorgy's birth or death record I wouuld be grateful.

I'm confused: I'm getting film reel for film 2010713, meaning I can't look at it, and it only has baptisms indexed from it. How did you find a death record on it?
However, I may have a suggestion: check the Roman Catholic registers for pre-1783 events. Before the Edict of Toleration, many Protestant churches were forbidden to keep their own registers, and everyone had to be recorded by the Roman Catholic priest.
Dvorzsák says Zsadány's Roman Catholics were recorded in Alsó-Mizslye (Nižná Myšľa), and poking randomly at the relevant film (4181823 item 6), this looks to have also been true a century earlier, as I'm seeing the baptisms of several Zsadány residents in 1766. What I'm not seeing in the sea of Latin, however, is any mention of Protestantism, so this may be a very long shot. (They may have simply not bothered to mention people's denominations, though.)

I paid for and received a copy of film 2010713 from a researcher in Kosice.
I will check the Catholic church records to see if I can find any information on my Zsadany Töröks there.
