Hello,

I've had great success in reading Latin and Croatian records, but I cannot read the text that appears on the left side of this page:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L99X-FXSN?i=71

Does anyone know what language this was written in? I know there are many ancestors in the preceding pages (last names Sikavica/Siccavizza, Landeka, Pivac, etc.), and I would love to hire a translator. Can anyone suggest a translator for these pages?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Oof. Given that it's a church register, maybe Old Church Slavonic? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Church_Slavonic)

Hi Julia, Yes, I was wondering that, too—I even uploaded it to an online translation tool that supposedly can translate Old Church Slavonic and it couldn't do it. But maybe that was due to the messy handwriting?

(Name removed) reads Glagolitic script (one of very few genealogists who do). Some of these characters seem like glagolica, so I would direct you to her. She also speaks very good English.

Thank you for that recommendation, @najensen! I will contact her.

Thank you @najensen for pointing out the genealogist who can help. Because FamilySearch is a public online forum, I removed the name of the genealogist to protect her privacy. Please see the Community Code of Conduct for more details about that.

One thing I want to point out, @sperlic3881635 is that this is a fee-based genealogist. Just something to be aware of. I wish you luck in your search!

Thank you for pointing that out. I didn't know there was a Community Code of Conduct (been posting here since 2019).
