How accurate are the records being used to connect our ancestors?

@PattyMcKenzie I moved your post into it's own discussion:

I was informed in my search that I am the 11th direct cousin to the late Princess Diana. All the relatives listed on my ancestry side are familiar and some of the relatives on her side are familiar to me as well. How accurate are the records being used to connect our ancestors? I also have many royal ancestors that are connected by the late Queen Elizabeth’s family. She and I are the descendants of the last Anglo-Saxon King of England, King Godwin.

@PattyMcKenzie The Famous Relatives algorithm is only as accurate as the work done by individuals on ALL the connecting profiles between you and Lady Diana Spencer.

There's no quick and easy answer to your question. You will want to research in depth to ensure the connections are accurate.

Best of luck with the search.

I concur with @Áine Ní Donnghaile's comment. Too many times famous relatives come and go as users, whether correctly or incorrectly, create or break links somewhere.

"… the last Anglo-Saxon King of England, King Godwin …"

Just to get it right, the last Anglo-Saxon King of England was, of course, King Harold, sometimes referred to as King Harold II. His father was Earl Godwin of Wessex. I know that Game of Thrones is supposed to have been inspired by the Wars of the Roses, but I've often thought that a better match would be with the last Saxon kings of England, people for whom murder was just an extension of politics.

According to the records where it stated that Queen Elizabeth was the granddaughter of King Godwin (he was only king for a few days and was killed in the war) is where my ancestors led me to also be a granddaughter. I’m still researching and verifying all the information and so are other relatives and we’ve come up with the same information.

If I recall correctly, there are multiple profiles for Lady Diana. You may want to check on them. I recall someone posting about being unable to merge them - one may be connected to a read-only profile.
