Translation Request

I am looking for help in translating film #193477 image #390. That page contains information when my ancestors came from in Austria when they came to Switzerland. Thank you so very much for your help.

    https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/de/articles/028719/ - Translated with DeepL.com (free version):

Family of Walzenhausen. Members of the K. family from the Bregenzerwald came to the Walzenhausen estate in 1446 at the latest as feudatories of Magdenau Monastery, which the brothers Hans and Jos acquired in 1487. Their descendants attained influential positions in Appenzell and St. Margrethen. They are regarded as the founders of the municipality of Walzenhausen, and the construction of the church there in 1638 was almost entirely a family affair. The family reached its political peak in the mid-17th century with the election of the brothers Bartholome, schoolmaster and innkeeper, and Conrad, captain, vintner, innkeeper and chronicler, as Landschreiber and Landesfähnrich respectively and later as governor of Ausserrhoden. Until 1741, the K. family also provided numerous community leaders and schoolmasters in their home community and held the office of sacristan without interruption from 1638 to 1741. As ardent supporters of the Linden, they disappeared from the political scene after the turmoil of the land trade.

You have Künzler ancestors from Walzenhausen: how far back have you got your proven(!) lineage?

Many people read about early families of the name of interest, and try to search forward to find a connection to their line … don't! It usually is a waste of time. With this method one would have to follow a large number of lines, which are not direct ancestors, and it may prove impossible to find the link after all, due to the lack of sources available.

Instead - start from your earliest proven(!) ancestor and search backwards: if the sources allow to find a connection, it will be found this way as well - much more efficiently.

Thank you so very much for your info on how to post links correctly. Also I appreciate your translation of the page I listed.

Starting with my great grandfather I have proven, cleaned up and sourced my Künzler ancestors in Sankt Margrethen as far back as records are available. I am about to start verifing, sourcing and cleaning up my Künzler ancestors that go back to Walzenhausen on another Künzler line, my great-great grandmother. I was interested to know what Billeter Family Record Notes said about the Künzler family. I have heard about the two brother from Austria, but I wondered where that info came from. I never put anything in my own records that I cannot source.

    Again, thank you!

Just to make sure - in case you are not aware of these possibilities:

Appenzell-Ausserrhoden church records (incl. Walzenhausen) are available online: https://www.kirchenbuecher-ar.ch/

St.Gallen church records and Bürgerregister (incl. St.Margrethen) are available online: https://kb.ghgo.ch/

There is a very active forum, especially on cantons St.Gallen and Appenzell on https://www.geneal-forum.com/

For Vorarlberg it may be a good idea to contact the regional genealogical society: https://www.igal.at/
