I'm researching Whipple Chandler Ward. He was born in 1816 in Vermont, moved to Illinois and then (I believe) Huntsburg, Geauga, Ohio. His second wife (Laura Morse or Moss Ward) and two children (Angaline and Chandler) are buried in Center Cemetery, Huntsburg. They died in 1851 and 1849 respectively, and Laura in 1856. After that Whipple disappears. I can't find him in any censuses, city directories, etc. Years ago I read that Whipple was a salesman and went to Colombus. Of course I can't find my notes of that or any source, but I remember there was something about him dying in Colombus, maybe in an accident with a train. He often went by his initials W.C. Any help is appreciated.

A quick newspaper search brings up an 1849 article about the death of Whipple C. Ward. https://www.genealogybank.com/nbshare/AC01100711225640281771699662429 Is this your man?
