    Translated from Hungarian:

Was there a difference between the Viennese forint and the "ostrich" forinth? I think "ostrich" is referring to Österreich. Could that be Austria?

Szerintem a „strucc” Österreichre utal. Lehet, hogy Ausztria?

The machine translator is silently making an incorrect correction: the spelling is osztrák. (No idea where/how it got to "ostrich", as that's strucc.)

So, the question is, is there a difference between "Viennese-valued forint" and "Austrian-valued forint"? I haven't a clue, as I have never encountered either term, but I would guess them to be fully synonymous, given that the capital -- the location of the government -- was often equated with the country.

Not an expert either but apparently, there was one mint (“Münzprägeanstalt“) in either part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (one in Vienna, the other in Kremnitz/Kremnice which is in Slovakia today but was then in Hungary).

There definitely wouldn't have been a difference in value but there probably was some sign/symbol on them to mark them as coming from either place.

Thank you StH31! Do you know between what years the mint in Kremnitz functioned and are either of them open to tourists these days?

@A Xo This appears to be it https://www.mint.sk/en/exposition . Apparently, it was built in 1328 and is still in function, actually.
