I have a confirmation record that I need some help with, please. The girls on lines 6 and 7 appear to be linked somehow, though i don’t recognize the first girl (the girl on line 7 is in my family tree). Instead of having a parent listed, there appears to be something else written. That’s what I need help translating, please. Thank you in advance! :)

I think they are half-sisters. The first is the daughter of Johan? Peterson and the other is allegedly also his daughter.

Caroline Jacobine's father is Andreas Schov according to her birth record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-994Q-G8QF?i=85&cc=2078555&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQGQM-RY1B. However, a man named "G: M: (gift mand? or gaardmand?) Petersen" is one of the godparents/witnesses. There is no way to tell for sure, but he may be the Petersen in the confirmation record.

In Sophie Christine Petersen's birth record, her father is Hans Pettersen, a "høkem (høker?)" = small shop keeper, grocer (entry #26): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=379993#379993,73904887.

The word before "datter" in the confirmation record looks to be "Antaget" or possibly "Anlaget". I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what that is but can't find it in any dictionary. I don't think it is the same as "udlagt" = said-to-be, claimed.

Thank you so much! @Norm Baker I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the time you have spent on this! You are truly blessing my life - as well as that of generations.

--> I wrote this note to you a day or two after you posted your response and I just found it in my "drafts" folder. I hope you know I am still grateful for you help!

"Antaget" means that she is a foster-daughter, but not adopted!

The foster-father Hans Petersen seems to be a "høker".

This could be him as a widower.

Census 1840: København. Christianshavns Kvarter. Amagergade No 321, Stuen.

Hans Pedersen Mand 62 1778 Enkemand Høker

The biological father Andreas Schou, afsk, K... R. [so dismissed from the K.... Regiment] and mother Anne Marie Olsen.

Unfortunately there are many Regiment starting with K..., but it is most likely "Kongens Regiment".

    Viet 30. April 1802 i Garnisons Sogn i København.

Andreas Schow, skræddersvend & Anne Marie Olsdatter

    Source (page 41): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17114961#150078,24857033

Født: 5. Juli 1803 i Sankt Petri Sogn i København. [The German-Lutheran parish in Copenhagen]

    Navn: Christine Marie [Schow].

    Vater: Andreas Schou, Sneidermeister.

    Mutter: Ana Maria, geboren Olsen.

    Source (page 175, nr 164): https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17118447#424441,78197693

NB: Schow/Schou/Skov er just spelling variations [means "Forest" in Danish].

Danish: Skrædder. German: Schneider. English: Tailor.

So from 1802 were he was: Danish "Svend", German "Geselle", English "Journeyman", but in 1803 he has become a "Master".

    Borgerskab i København.

    Onsdagen den 21. Juli 1802.

Andreas Schou, fød her i Staden [= born in Copenhagen], vandt Borgerskab som Skræddermester i Lauget.

So either we have two different couples of Andreas Schou & Anne Marie Olsen; or for some reason this master-tailor has joined the army at some point during the napoleonic wars (which certainly is possible).

Skrædderlavet, 05. Mestre og drenge. Ind- og udskrivningsprotokol, 1685-1805:

Den 28. April 1789 lod Mester Johan Petter Juhl en dreng indskrive paa 6 Aar og opdragen på Det Kongelige Vajsenhuus, barnefød i Kjøbenhavn navnlig Andreas Schou og findes i Contract Protokollen pagina 322.

    Source (page 1390, left): https://kildeviser.kbharkiv.dk/#!?collection=119&item=1302759

NB: So Andreas Schou was accepted into the tailor-guild as an apprentice for 6 years. He was born in Copenhagen and grew up in the "Kongelige Vajsenhus", which was a combined orphanage and school with monopoly to publish the Danish Psalm Book and to print Danish Bibles, which is the basis of the schools economy even today as it is still operating as a private school.

    Det Kongelige Vajsenhus: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Det_Kongelige_Vajsenhus

Census 1787: København. Det Kongelige Waisenhuus. Nytorv no 138.

Nr. 3054: Andreas Schow. 13 Aar. Waisendreng.

    Source: https://www.danishfamilysearch.dk/cid720784

NB: So he was around 15 years old when he started as a tailor-apprentice.
