Two of my children are siblings from same mother. They are two years apart. They were adopted out of North Carolina. We were in the military and lost the adoption papers in one of our moves. All information was lost. We don’t even know the lawyer who helped with the adoption. My kids are in their 20’s trying to find their birth mother. They have tried to go through Vital Records. Any help would be appreciated.

Have they tried DNA testing? They may find DNA matches that point to their birth mother.

In North Carolina an Adoption decree is public record. I’m not sure how much information is on that document. Maybe the lawyers name?

Vital Records of North Carolina are found here, include adoption

    www.ncgenweb.us/ncstate/files/VitalRecordsNC.html

    Hope this helps.
