Hi, are there any records for Rölanda and it's parish area before 1717. I've exhausted the parish records, the parish accounting records which go back to 1700, the Mantalslängder records and the Jordeböcker records.

Oh, if neither Parish records, Mantalslängder nor Jordeböcker goes further back in time than 1717 then I can only think of army rolls (if we only takes available online into accounts)?
You could try CENTRALA SOLDATREGISTRET and see if you get very lucky to find a familiar name:

I see that you have Västgöta-Dals regemente (1624-1901).
Organisation in 1685:
Livkompaniet (Överstens kompani)

All the soldiers pre-1717 I press on in the "Centrala Soldatregistret" are within Vedbo Kompani!

Search on "Västgöta-Dals regemente"
Generalmönsterrullor:
Search for "Västgöta-Dals regemente"; Vedbo Kompani 1600-1720 gives the following:
Gives 1694 - 1708 - 1714 -1716 -1719 - 1720.

Bevare that many on the list (centrala soldatregistret) have "army names" which they didn't have before entering the army.
Army names can change through time for each individual!

Vedbo Häradsrätts arkiv. [I assume must giver Rölanda]
Bouppteckningar (probates) only goes from 1735, but there is a "tiläggsserie" 1683-1843 (bunt, spridda år) very last in the list. [Maybe if very lucky you can find something there?]
