Not sure where to look.

Hello

My husband's grandmother Francesca Figar was born 4 April 1892 in Gorizia, Italy. My hubby was always told she was Austrian. After reading about this region I realise that it changed hands multiple times and at the time she was born it was "under Austrian rule" as such. How do I go about looking into her history. Where would records be held?? Is she Austrian or Italian?? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks for your time

Roz

    Dear Roz:

Until our "experts" can arrive on the scene, we are wondering if the FamilySearch.org Wiki has been searched. Here is the link to Italy Genealogy https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Italy_Genealogy. It is filled with records.

We wish you success and patience. Please know that we are a great cheerleader during those times of frustration. Keep us informed of your journey, OK? PaulaAnn

In Family Search click Search and select "Catalog." In the search field slowly enter Gorizia. Select the link that says Italy, Gorizia, Gorizia. It will display available records for that area. Select the link that says church records. There are 8 listed. You can determine which records you want to search according to your time period. Hope this helps.
