Where can I order an Erie County, Ohio probate for the year 1848-9?

Hello,

I am researching a family in the early and mid 1800s. (Henry Jeffery who lived and died in Milan, Erie, Ohio; died 29 Dec 1849) I found the administration bond (Dated 23 Jan 1849) from his probate on FamilySearch but am unable to find the rest of his probate packet. I am wondering where an 1848-49 Erie County probate would be held so that I can order a copy of the record.

Thank you so much for your help.

Pam

I don’t know if they provide reports back to 1848-9, but you can go to https://www.eriecounty.oh.gov/PublicRecords.aspx, the Erie County Ohio web page. On this page you will find: (1) A “Public Records Request Form” button – this is for information about you and what you want; and, (2) An “Estates – Estate Searches” button – this is for information about the probate in which you are interested.

    Good Hunting!
