💠⭐ When will we be able to edit every field? ⭐💠
With the announcement of the 1950 US Census volunteer process being completed by Labor Day, we've mentioned that soon we will have the ability to edit every field in the records. We thought you might like a sneak peek into what that will look like.
There will be new views that lets you see the information in the records. One will show the names down the right side of the page. Later, for some records, a view will be added to be able to see it as a table at the bottom of the image. You will be able to click on each name to see the details and edit the information. The editing history is being preserved to help with the integrity of the search.
Thank you to all for you amazing efforts. What you have done is paving the way for the future of review and we couldn't have done it without you.

So how do I get rid of Sacont Norine, attached incorrectly to my Elden Norine family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sacont doesn't exist, because the word is actually vacant. I am so frustrated, as I have been by the entire 1950 census project. Oh, well.

@Judy Crook_1, thank you for bringing this up about the "vacant" showing a name and being connected to your family. This may be taken care of through some new tools that are being implemented. I am forwarding this to "Search" and they will be able to look into the issue further.

Will this apply to all records or just the 1950 US census?

@Graham Buckell, the following knowledge article may answer your question.

@AndLinda This is fantastic. Is there an update on when this feature will be available for the 1950 census (and any other records?)

@Anni Brown, thank you for asking about editing the 1950 census. There is not currently a way to edit the index of the 1950 US Census. But it is coming. Unfortunately, we have not been given a projected date for editing to become available. When editing opens up, we are told that you will be able to edit every indexed field.

Any idea when this will happen?

Some historical records on FamilySearch already have some fields that can be edited. Here are some articles in the Help Center that might help:

Someone in the Hungarian-language Community group just pointed out several pages of donations (of bread and wine for Communion) that have been indexed as ...burials. (The poor churchwarden is indexed as being buried at least once a year between 1788 and 1798.) Does anyone know whether event types will ever become editable?
