Suffix removal does not remove suffix
There are many instances where the AI has transcribed Jo or J with a sloppy period as Jr. When I try to backspace over the suffix and click SUBMIT, the suffix seems to remain. I have tested this multiple times using the BACK button to see what has been saved in the system.
Please provide a way to remove a suffix.
Thanks in advance!

@Sheryl Neal Slaughter, you might want to report this next time it happens and include a screenshot and very good notes to explain. It is hard to know exactly what is happening. If this is in Family Review, if we understand correctly, the suffix is recorded with the surname in the box and you are trying to back it out so it will only be recorded in the box for the suffix. It is not letting you save it. In Name review, if only the suffix is highlighted and the computer recognizes it, then you click on a match if the box says "suffix". But what I am understanding is that the Jr. is recorded with the surname and it is not letting you back it out from being with the surname. You have used the back to see if it is saved and it is not saving it. I have replicated and not seeing an issue on this side of it not saving for me. Thank you for letting us know. We hope that we have understood.

This is occurring in Name review where AI has determined there IS a suffix when there IS NOT a suffix. If I click in the suffix box and backspace over the characters and then click SUBMIT, the suffix that was originally in the box remains. It appears the suffix box will not accept a blank field with SUBMIT.
Example:
Given names are Peggy Jo. AI has determined Given name is Peggy and Suffix is Jr.
I correct Given name field to Peggy Jo.
I click into the Suffix field and backspace over Jr to remove it and click SUBMIT.
Using the BACK button, the Given names are Peggy Jo, but the Suffix is still Jr.

@Sheryl Neal Slaughter, next time it happens, please report it as a Transcription Error, click on the "Other" and thoroughly explain in the box. Thank you so much for letting us know!!! I'm sure when it gets to name review, it will be able to be edited correctly there.

I have been reporting it as a transcription error, but that doesn't allow me to move to the next name box without either selecting UNSURE or MATCH. If there is a better way, please advise.
Thanks!

@Sheryl Neal Slaughter, it is a strange one for sure. I would probably mark it as Unsure and it may be correctable if another reviewer picks it up since it is marked "unsure". Also, to let you know, when the census is published, you will be able to edit the name field. Blessings!

@Sheryl Neal Slaughter, just came across the same thing. Here's what I did.
- DO NOT DELETE the phantom suffix text.
- Click Transcription Error.
- Check Blank. For type of error.
- For description: AI read text from next field as Suffix [or whatever your case may be], but there is no suffix.
- Click SUBMIT.
That should record the error and go on to the next name. The suffix can be deleted during the Family Review phase.
