FamilySearch direct me to my family on 1950 US Census?
I understood from a session on RootsTech 2022 that FamilySearch would likely direct me to my own family on the 1950 US Census Review. That has not happened to me! I have done thousands of names and households this month and still have not been directed to my own family.
Did I get this wrong? Was it wishful thinking on the part of the presenters on RootsTech? Is it just me who is not being "directed" to my very own family?!! I keep selecting the state and surname but no luck getting to my own family. I have done plenty of people with the same surname.

That has not happened for me either. I eventually found my family by requesting families with the same surname.
This is a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway - are you searching the state in which they resided? I apologize; I'm sure you are searching correctly; you sound as if you are very experienced.
Good luck,

This has also happened to me when clicking on a state that I know my family lived in and putting in the surname never brings up that family name. I have given feedback on this issue. Please be patient as this is all new ground. So sorry.

Searching for your family name may prove fruitless if the AI misread your family name (as it did mine). If you remember neighbors with simple but perhaps unique names, try searching for them instead. You might get lucky, as I did.

Thanks for comments. I am searching the right state and surname. I also tried searching other names on the same census sheet as my family. I came up with one that lived across the street and was able to review those households. Still trying to get my own family! I keep trying. I have reviewed many, many households with my family surname.

I was able to review some of the families I work on by searching by name/state as soon as the state was made available for review. Once an individual has been reviewed (by you or someone else), it's no longer available. You get a second chance of finding the family when "family review" becomes available but once again you have to be first to land on that family.

Have you tried looking them up on the original archived census?
You can search by State/County plus enumeration district (ED) from the 1940 census if they are still in the same place, first and last name can also be entered. If it finds a possible match, be sure to look above the name to see if there are multiple pages to view.
I've been using this site when I work on Review Headers. It's great when you can't read or want to verify place names.
