Signature box with dash and comma

The Enumerator's Signature is always written as a "signature". But the computer has often recorded it with a dash and comma beginning, then a surname, Should we enter it as it shows on the actual record?

@Pluperfect , thank you for your question. You can leave the dash and coma out. We appreciate your wanting to make the record accurate.

Type out the Enumerator's Signature as you see it written

@Schex9, yes, the Field Help does state that, so the instructions need to be clarified as some look at the comma and dash as being in the "box" and should go with the name. But that is incorrect as it is just talking about the "signature" and making sure it matches the field. It has been suggested to refine the instructions.
"For the most part, you should type what you see and delete information that doesn’t belong".
In this article it is quoted: The Document Header Review is a simple activity that asks you to verify that the computer copied the information in the census header correctly. Correct any anomalies that you see.
- Delete names from the name field when the field in the image is blank.
- Delete commas that come after the given names in the name field.
- For the date field, enter exactly what you see.

I simply wonder WHY this signature is even indexed. Has one discovered a genealogical value to it??
Yes, I understand that 'Ancestry' has set the criteria for this process BUT doesn't FS have any 'control'?
In the name of EFFICIENCY can they not severely limit these requirements of the multitude of trivia being required & work toward an efficient completion of the indexing review of Family Review.
