1950 Sheets - NOT connected to the CORRECT STATES
I try to review names for the 1950 INDIANA Sheets (URL Address included "Indiana"), BUT I receive CALFORNIA SHEETS. (Top left corner of the sheets stated "Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California")
I then try to review names for the actual 1950 CALIFORNIA Sheets (URL Address included "California") - BUT received an error message showing that "No Sheets for California Exist".
I then try to review Names for the 1950 FLORIDA Sheets (URL Address included "Florida", as shown below), BUT I received Sheets that were from TEXAS!!
NO WONDER SEARCHES IN MICHIGAN (for past censuses) sometimes bring up MISSISSIPPI!!!!

I've been working on Review Names for the state of Florida. I keep finding that I am working on census pages for a state other than Florida, like Virginia, Indiana and even California, which is not yet available. How many pages might I have done without realizing they were for the wrong state? How do you determine they statistics are associated with the correct state? How should we notify you when we find the page is for a wrong state?

I am also getting a different states than the one I requested (I also requested Florida).

@Sam Sulser How are we to handle this issue? I am having the same problem with Virginia this morning it's actually pulling from Indiana.

I started doing name review for Virginia.
The records are not Virginia but they are Indiana loaded on Virginia.
I have checked several times last night and again this morning.

@Tamara Stevenson @Margaret Hancock_3 @Vincent Nofi I am not sure what to do in this situation. I have informed the engineers of this. We'll see what they say. Sam 🙂

This is an expected behavior. So proceed in the review, regardless the State served up.

So, why bother picking a state to work on? This seems very haphazard. When I come upon a name that is suspect, I like to try searching for other records in that state to see if I can come up with a match on age, state of birth, other family names, etc. Now I need to know what state I'm really working on too.

Whenever I click on the state of Texas to review names, it almost never populates an image from Texas. It always populates one of the other states available (Louisiana, Virginia, Indiana, California...). The ONLY time that it has generated a Texas image is when I specify a last name to index. Has this happened to anyone else?

I get the same results. When I try to search for a name in Utah, it finds names in California.

When I select California I get census images for Texas!

I am having the same issue when reviewing names for Texas - I often get Texas, but just as often I get California.
Should I continue, report a transcription error, or just back out and try again (sometimes this works, sometimes not)

I observed exactly what you describe, within the past 30 minutes for Indiana and California.
It sounds like the California sheets were added and were mistakenly assigned to the Indiana state code.
Probably this will be fixed soon and the sheets will be reassigned to the California state code.
Yesterday the Indiana name review did yield Indiana sheets.

I don't think problem is Californiacentric. Today, I've had it happen with Texas, Louisiana, Virginia, and Indiana, as well as California.

I have the same problem with wrong states being displayed. The states involved seem to vary randomly and includes states not yet released for verification. I hope the indexing is not being applied to the wrong states. I also get many "error on page" and very slow response times.

My mission is currently doing family review for Nevada, and have noticed that many of the sheets are also from California.

We're having the same problem, I was trying to review records in Nevada but it gave me records from California and said, "thank you for reviewing records in Nevada" when I was done.

From what I have seen the states you get shifted to either have the surname you listed or the state you chose somewhere in their family group. For instance if you chose Idaho but get California then one of the members of the family group was probably born in Idaho.

2nd time asking this question. Why does it have us pick a state? When I pick a state it gives me a different state?

You should ask your question on the Census 1950 community page.

I did. No one answered

Does anyone at FamilySearch know that Virginia pages are coming up to Review names when when choosing to Review Names for New York?
New York was just added today.. but it appears Virginia Census pages were added to the New York project.

I'm also seeing this today - when I choose Florida name review, I get either California or Virginia

Same here. Clicked on NY, got CA. Doesn't matter to me what states I work on but it does make me wonder whether there are other glitches.

This problem is appearing in all 3 1950 Census review tasks. It is annoying to people who want to work on a specific state.

Ohio just became available. I'm stopping for now. I keep getting California or Indiana when searching for my family names. I have tried multiple ways of selecting "Ohio" to no avail. I did manage to find family in two batches of 20 in Ohio, so it did work at least two times.

New York became available yesterday. I tried several times to review names in New York and every time pages from Indiana were returned. Today, I requested New York a few times in the morning and got California. I did review those pages but decided to stop and try again later. Several hours later, I am still getting California when choosing New York.

You must be unlucky, Carol. I jumped on New York and the second page that came up with my surname was for my parents and the four eldest of us. I had to go through about 12 more Nofi's before I found the fifth. Keep trying! I've had good luck with New York.

Often in Part 2 items 3-6 are listed as "Missing Field" even though there is information in those columns on the census sheet. I've attached a screen shot showing what I mean. Is anyone else seeing this?
I sometimes wonder if the FamilySearch software for Family Review is altogether up to the job. In the last half hour I've had nothing but problems of various natures that prevent me from completing the reviews.

So now tonight... I choose to Review New York, again.. and this time California comes up.
Yes, choosing New York to Review names brings up California, Los Angeles County ED 66-1036.
I guess there is also no one from FamilySearch reading and answering questions on the Holy week days of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
I hope everyone knows to still review the images.. But this is an error that needs to be fix.

This is a known problem and the Engineers are working on it. In the meantime, feel free to work on the page that you receive. It all needs to be done.
