No one Home or Vacant

You are supposed to click on "transcription error" and then "not a name." This is inefficient and hopefully there will soon be a "not a name" button next to "unsure." We've been asking!

So, when a line says 'Vacant' or No One At Home", we mark it as a transcription error and 'Not a Name' and not 'Edit' and remove the erroneous info?

Just got an answer from a FS missionary :-) Transcription error and "not a name". Don't know if anyone has had this question but I did!

Since there are so many instances of Vacant and No one at home type comments, Rather than having to go to to Transcription Error, un-clicking Not Readable and clicking Not a name, there should be a new button like the yellow, pink and blue ones that does that for you and skips to the next line (not the given name or suffix). It would make it so much quicker to process records.
And someone should review the widgets on the Transcription Error pup-up window. Since all of the entries seem to be mutually exclusive, clicking on one should reset any other. This is a common practice in window design.

Go to transcription error then mark it as not a name.

I know this has been asked many times, and answered many times, but rather than clicking on "Transcription Error" and then unchecking the "Unreadable" box and then checking the "Not a Name" box, and then clicking Submit button, is it not possible to change the program so that the computer recognizes "not at Home", "no one home" and "vacant" or variations thereof and mark them as "Not a Name".
Yesterday I had one sheet that had 12 Not at Home or vacant lines in a row and it requires the above transcription error process twice for each line. We are wasting a ton of time because "Not at Home", "No One Home" and "Vacant" are the most common names found in the 1950 Census.
If a programing change is not possible or would take too long, is it possible to add a "Not a Name button to the main screen along side the "Match", "Edit" and "Unsure" buttons. This would really speed things up.

Are there any instructions for the 1950 census transcriptions? I am running into quite a few issues like the on mentioned above AND the transcription is one line off on the entire page.

@QueenOscotts The FAQ page has some instruction and answers to many of the questions you might have.

New Mexico and Florida reopened - with new features - there's new link to mark "Not a Person" separate from "Transcription Error", skipping clear ones faster.

April 8, 2022 - For "no one home" etc., click on the "Not A Person" icon.
