Will Volunteer Work Be Shared With Ancestry?
I have heard conflicting information about whether our volunteer work in checking the index of the 1950 census will be shared with Ancestry. Could we please get a straight answer on this? Many of us are not comfortable with the idea of helping a for-profit company without being fully aware of it.

FamilySearch has partnered with Ancestry in joint effort to publish a fully indexed and reviewed copy of the 1950 US Census. We will be sending the curated indexes back to Ancestry as each state is completed. Thus, FamilySearch benefits from Ancestry’s Computer Assisted Indexing (CAI) and Ancestry benefits from curated content.

Thanks for answering my question. I have to say, the information about the project is a little scattered. I wasn't aware that that FAQ page existed until you linked me to it. It would be really helpful if it could be linked to from the 1950 U.S. Census Community Project landing page, rather than being buried in the Help Center.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll forward it on so that we can make that adjustment.

The FAQ page is also linked to the second "announcement" on this Community page.
