Problem with messaging
With whatever most recent changes have been to the messaging section of the site, something that has been taken away that needs to be restored is the ability in the 'About' field at the top of the message, to be able to click on the hyperlink and take you to the record of whoever that message is about. Not only is the Record Locator Number not in the message title, but the hyperlink doesn't take you to the record. The only way to find the person that the message is about it to do a search and hope you find the right person. Please fix this! Thank you.

I checked with a message that I sent yesterday and the hyperlink works and the identity details are all there. Do you have an example of a message that didn't work?

I'm having this same problem with all messages. The links in the about section just refresh the page. They don't go to the person's page in the Tree. And I cannot scroll past the 10 messages in the left pane. The scroll feature is missing.

There is certainly an issue with scrolling down to older messages and this has been reported separately. And I just noticed that the hyperlink on that message doesn't work as expected. Seems like messaging is in trouble at the moment. The other post on scrolling said the issue had been reported for action.

FYI
The Problem/Issue, of being, UNABLE to "Move"/"Scroll" DOWN, one's List of 'Messages', in "User Messaging", in 'FamilySearch', has ALREADY been reported; and, under investigation.

Is there a reason message history no longer scrolls to see all the people you have messaged.

Which is what I just said...

'Yes' ...
And, I was in the process, of preparing and submitting my 'Comment'; BEFORE, you posted yours.
It happens ...
You get used to that ...
Brett
ps: I take a bit more time, to prepare, my 'Posts' and 'Comments'; which, are usually, in-depth ...
pps: Plus, I often have, a couple, on the do, at any given time ...

Another problem is that I am unable to access the profile of the individual to whom a received message relates. I click on the name and nothing happens.

Just in passing ...
At least, one 'Avatar' (ie. "Profile'), of a User/Patron, in a 'Message', in one's "User Messaging", in 'FamilySearch', can STILL be accessed.
Well, at least, on the DEFAULT (ie. FIRST Screen) ...
[ ie. https://www.familysearch.org/messages/ ]
Pictorially ...
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

FYI
It's BACK ...
The "Scroll Bar" is back, we can again, now, "Move" both, UP; and, DOWN, our LIST, of 'Messages'.

The scroll bar still doesn't work and neither does the hyperlink to the record of the person that the message is about. I am using Google Chrome which is the browser that Family Search has said is the recommended browser.

The scroll bar does not work at all well in Chrome, but is fine using Edge. This was the same experience I had when "Following" was introduced. The scroll bar does seem to "work" (in Chrome), but the messages just load very slowly. No such problem using Edge. Will have to try Firefox later.
As for the hyperlink to the Family Tree page, that's not working in either browser.
1 -
Yes, same problems with Firefox as with Chrome. Takes "forever" to get to the end of your messages, but can get there in the end!
The "ABOUT:" hyperlink doesn't work in any of the three browsers (Windows 10).

All does now seem to be back to normal with the scroll bar operation. Still no joy with the hyperlinks, though.

That is funny ...
When, I posted, yesterday (on, 26 March 2022, at 1:25 PM, My Local time, UTC +11 Hours ) that it was back ...
I had checked, in the "Bowser(s)" of,
▬ 'Google' "Chrome"; and,
▬ 'Mozilla' "Fireox"; and,
▬ 'Microsoft' "Edge",
And, ALL with the "operating System" of "Windows 10",
Plus, ALL with the LATEST "Versions", of each.

This is too cumbersome, I just want to post an issue to the techies that I am having trouble. A glance at some of the earlier contributions tells me several others are having the same issues I have/had. Yes, I cleared my browser memory, generally do it once a day. Today, Clicking on bell at top right side of the profile page does not take me to the messages section. Yesterday, The subject line in a message did not take to the point where the patron who contacted me was having problems like it used to. I use my files on Ancestry.com to figure out what she/he was talking about. DAVID B STYER

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I just wanted to let you know, that you are not alone.

Still having problems with the hyperlinks - click on the links and absolutely nothing happens.
Scroll bar operation still fine (from yesterday).
If you haven't already done so, would you kindly arrange for this issue to be escalated to the engineers - in need of a fix asap, as can't identify the Family Tree IDs / pages to which messages refer. Thanks.

The issue has been escalated to engineering.

I am also having the same problem!

'Yes' ...
The "About" 'Link' is STILL ... BROKEN ...
Instead of the "About" 'Link'; being, that of the individual/person concerned (ie. subject of the 'Message') ...
The "About" 'Link' is simply: https://www.familysearch.org/messages/
Certainly, NOT, very helpful ...

I have the same issue - I cannot access the link to the Ancestor listed in the "About" field - I general "Click" on the name and brought to the individual.

I am having the same issue. I have yet to get a response on my first two, however.

Is passed onto, the Programmers/Engineers, we may get a quicker resolution.
But ...
That Said ...
Maybe, the Programmers/Engineers, are ALREADY aware of such; and, are trying to figure out, in the "Coding"; as, to WHY such has occurred.
I am very well aware, that FINDING the CAUSE of a Problem/Issue in "Coding", is by far the BIGGEST task.
[ All that is NEEDED, is just ONE Single "Character", out of place, in the "Code", to cause 'Catastrophe' ... ]
Once found, the addressing/fixing, can sometimes be, the easy part.
Unfortunately ...
Like it or not ...
We just need to be patient ...
Of course ...
Such, is much easier said, than done.

I am having somewhat of the issue with the message system. In my case, Android devices running Android version 9, when I go to create a new message, the About is locked and without any way of changing it, I can not sent any messages out.
On previous messages I sent out and received, I can click on the About field and go to that individual. I can receive messages that have replied to that I had previously sent out. Not sure if my replies I sent back are getting sent out.
Thank you.

That Temple notification - that bell..
It is not working. I knew there were notifications from temple I went to earlier today.
Click and the red dot disappeared, not opening at all.
Had to go over to Temple Reservations to scroll the "Completed" section to find the names, and that includes notifications of ordinances done by others for my shared names.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

As you are referencing the "Mobile" Application of 'FamilySearch' ...
IF, you have not already done so; THEN, ...
Can I humbly suggest, that you might also be best, to provide "Feedback", DIRECTLY in the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch' itself.
As, there are Two (x2) separate and distinct "Teams", working independently ...
(1) One, for the ORIGINAL Computer Web version of 'FamilySearch'; and,
(2) One, for the "Mobile" Application version of 'FamilySearch'.
Reporting "Feedback" DIRECTLY in/through, the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch' itself, SHOULD go, DIRECTLY, to the Team, working on the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch'.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

I totally agree! Please fix the link and add the Record number for whomever we are talking about. I just had two messages today and couldn't find the person in question.

They ARE in the Process, of addressing/fixing such,
But ...
That Said ...
It is NOT, as simple, as most of us think.
They FIRST, have to find and identify, the cause; before, they can start to address/fix.
"Programming"; and, "Coding"; and, especially, even, doing the remedial work, is NOT easy.
We just need to be patient.
As an aside ...
In "User Messaging", in 'FamilySearch' ...
Unlike most Users/Patrons, I DO NOT rely on on the "About", that identifies the individual/person.
I ALWAYS include the, "Name"; 'Details"; and, 'FamilySearch Person Identifier" (PID), in the "Body", of ANY 'Messages', that I send.
I would humbly suggest, that including the, "Name"; 'Details"; and, 'FamilySearch Person Identifier" (PID), in the "Body", of ANY 'Messages', that one sends, SHOULD be standard practice for ALL Users/Patrons.
Just my thoughts.

Came here to report this, sorry to see it is worse than I thought, glad to be able to compare notes and get issues escalated.
Messages on the mobile app have not had live links for probably a year. Now the web interface is the same way.
