A Family Tree For The Human Family - Find Window

Up until yesterday the old Find Window and the simple search criteria screen has now gone.

Now it has the basic 4 or 5 criteria initial page and the unfathomable title "A Family Tree For The Human Family". Who's making this stuff up ??

Please REINSTATE the old Search / Find window. Completing the details was simple and the search results was just fine. Now it's horrible to use. A new look at the expense of ease of use. I liked the old clean & simple look, it made ease of use just right. Now I am just frustrated & pretty disinclined to use the website that I really enjoy.

Simple is best. The new look & titles make no sense to the end user. You should encourage ease of use, not hinder it.

Regards

Ann

I could not agree more. Why on earth make it more complicated than it was using the previous method? It's very discouraging.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

[ With what appears to be your first post ... ]

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

    You are not alone ...

    MANY would agree ...

Here are two (x2) other recent posts on the matter ...

Improvement for "Find" Function in Family Tree

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/120048/improvement-for-find-function-in-family-tree

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/120048/improvement-for-find-function-in-family-tree

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I just wanted to let you know; and, assure you, that you are not alone.

As I stated in those posts ...

    Unfortunately ...

    Sadly ...

I would humbly suggest, that we are ALL now STUCK, with the NEW "Find" feature/facility/function ...

And, the PREVIOUS version of the "Find" feature/facility/function ... NEVER to RETURN...

    And ...

It does appear, that 'FamilySearch', has decided to "Change" the 'look', of the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', to appeal MORE to the "Younger" Generations; and, "Mobile" Devices, with SMALL screens.

Of course, at the expense, of the "Older" Generations, using "Computers and the ORIGINAL "Computer" Web version, of the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.

The "Programmers", seem to be DRIVING, all the NEW "Changes" ...

The Users/Patrons, are certainly NOT driving, ANY of the NEW "Changes"

    Unfortunately ...

The Users/Patrons, DO NOT, seem to have a say, in the matter ...

    Obviously ...

The (Younger) Programmers, seem to be bent, on "Change", just for the sake of "Change" ...

[ And, obviously, of course, keeping up with NEW "Innovations", with "Coding" ... ]

REGARDLESS of; and, RATHER than, the, WANTS; DESIRES; and, NEEDS, of the Users/Patrons ...

[ Especially, the "Older" Generations, using "Computers and the ORIGINAL "Computer" Web version, of the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' ... ]

It appears, that such Users/Patrons, NO LONGER have any, say; or, sway, any more ...

[ Especially, when it comes to, the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch' ... ]

    What an unfortunate development ...

We are TOLD, that the, "Designers"; "Developers"; &, "Programmers", DO use "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch'.

    But ...

    That Said ...

One DOES have to wonder, about such ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett, your comments were:-

"I would humbly suggest, that we are ALL now STUCK, with the NEW "Find" feature/facility/function ...

And, the PREVIOUS version of the "Find" feature/facility/function ... NEVER to RETURN..."

Did you get this OFFICIALLY from FamilySearch ??

Reverting back to the old Find page & the much better results screen is CRUCIAL for anyone that does genealogy.

People are not on FamilySearch to find out that Scots people eat haggis on the 23rd January every year. People visit the FamilySearch website to SEARCH !! This needs to made easy, as it was last week. The new Find screen will definitely discourage people from using the site AT ALL. And Brett, you suggest the changes are for young people. They will definitely not use this site if it involves clumsy search & results windows.

Does anyone have a contact name at FS to have the the Find screen & results reinstated ???

    Ann

    Just in passing ...

    Short Answer: 'No'.

But, honestly, WHEN, has 'FamilySearch', EVER reverted, back to a PREVIOUS "Version", on MAJOR "Changes".

[ ie. NEVER ... certainly NONE, that I can ever recall ... ]

    I am sorry ...

    Just being REALISTIC ...

    Like it or not ...

The NEW "Find" feature/facility/function, is here to STAY ...

    But ...

    That Said ...

I am certain, that 'FamilySearch', WILL keep "Tweaking" it ...

    Prime EXAMPLE ...

The NEW "Search Records"; and, the resulting "Results" page/screen ...

'FamilySearch', has certainly NOT, "Reverted" back, to the PREVIOUS "Version", of that ...

And, that is DESPITE, "ALL" of the COUNTLESS "Requests", to do so ...

    Again ...

    I am sorry ...

I am just try to be REALISTIC ...

There is NO point ... 'beating around the bush' ...

    Just my thoughts.

    Brett

ps: It is the YOUNGER Generations, who are NOW driving, 'FamilySearch' ...

pps: Us OLDER Generations, have very little say, in the way thing are heading ... ie. the way of the future ...

I understand your request and concern. The team involved with the Search/Find feature has been notified. We don't know what is happening behind the scenes but I am certain that they are taking into consideration everyone's feedback.
