How does "we" correct the following data? The transcription shows it as a DEATH record when in fact it is a BIRTH record.

@Gene Toler We have 3 record collections that are not displaying correctly:

    • Massachusetts Deaths, 1841-1915, 1921-1924
    • Massachusetts Births, 1841-1915
    • Massachusetts Marriages, 1841-1915

All of these contain birth, marriage, and death entries. We believe this happened when the folks who manage the collections wanted to break up a very large Massachusetts Vital Records collection. We reported the problem to engineering back in November 2021. No idea what they are or aren't doing about it. Given the volume of issues they are trying to address, I imagine this one falls low on the priority list since it is not preventing users from actually finding the records they want.

Fortunately, the indexed info is accurate. But is it disconcerting to search in a collection that says it is death records and find a birth record instead. I'll add this one to the known issues list for others who run across it.

When viewed from the page, the record correctly shows as being part of the Massachusetts Births recordset. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-6SS7-Y5P?i=35

So, not an indexing or transcription error, but an apparent categorization error.
