How do I unreserve a family name that someone else has held reserved for 2 yrs and not completed any of their work? We've completed everything except sealing to parents and spouse but this individual still

holds those last covenants in reserve and will have them reserved until Oct. 2024, another 2 years. No

indication that they have plans to finish this individual's work. It's my great-great-great grandfather and I

don't like leaving his work unfinished for such a long time.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

    Short Answer: You CANNOT.

    Unfortunately ...

The ONLY real "Options", that you have are:

    (1) Send a 'Message', through "User Messaging", of 'FamilySearch', requesting, that the User/Patron, either,

    (a) "Unreserve", the "Temple" Work (ie. "SP"; and, "SS"), so that you can "Request", such; or,

    (b) "Shares", the "Temple" Work (ie. "SP"; and, "SS"), with you.

    or,

    (2) WAIT until the "Reservation" EXPRIES; and,

.... the the "Temple" Work (ie. "SP"; and, "SS"), AUTOMATICALLY, "Share[d] with the Temple System"; which,

.... makes such ALSO available to "Request".

    But ...

    That Said ...

    Unfortunately ...

In the case of the latter, 'Dates' of "Expiry", are AUTOMATICALLY being EXTENDED; until, ALL "Temples" are operating on "Phase 4", Conditions (ie. NORMALLY).

    Good Luck.

I know, that this certainly may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; and, another avenue to pursue.

    Furthermore ...

Here is a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':

Someone has reserved an ordinance that I want to do

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/someone-has-reserved-an-ordinance-that-i-would-like-to-do

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
