Why couldn't you have invented that neat, new Family Groups feature...

...before effectively commanding me to "unreserve" hundreds of the cousins I'd researched in recent years. I was obedient and skinnied down my reservation list to a puny 279 "lines", so as to leave a LITTLE room for new entries. Yes, I know you said I didn't HAVE to do that, but you designed it so as to remove that opportunity and the motivation it supplied. Thanks for acknowledging me as "a major contributor," but no thanks for punishing me for all that effort.

We thank you for your reducing your reservation list, which will allow other family members opportunities to do ordinances. The policy was not instated to punish anyone. Some individuals had over 10,000 names on their Temple reservation list, which would take many years to complete.

We appreciate you willingness to follow the guidelines.

Actually, I've been active in sharing my reservations among descendants, other relatives, friends, neighbors, fellow ward members, and such for over ten years, now. Thanks to your guidelines, they will now be deprived of the encouragement I've been blessed to offer, in this manner. The Gospel's still true, and I'll still try to serve effectively as a Temple and Family Search Consultant, but I'm not convinced of the inspired character of this and a few other bits of organizational engineering that keep characterizing The System.

I hope you didn't unreserve any ordinances that you could have just shared with the temple. That is the place to put ordinances so you can make sure they get done whether by yourself, your relatives, or other temple patrons. Our temple-shared list has no limit and is available for any of our relatives to take ordinances from to complete via Ordinances Ready.

Any ordinances shared to a Family Group still count towards our 300 line limit. That feature would not have affected your need to move ordinances to the temple list or un-reserve them if they were 90-day ordinances you were not going to be to able complete.
