Father's name was not found after extensive research. Can a child be sealed to just a mother?

    Furthermore ...

Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

Can a child be sealed to parents when one of the parent’s names is unknown?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/sealing-to-parent-ordinance-when-name-of-parent-is-unknown

How do I seal a child to grandparents?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-seal-a-child-to-grandparents

Plus, the "Related" Articles, on how to establish the various "Parent-Child" Relationships.

I hope, that these may also help/assist, somewhat.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

Short Answer: 'No' - BOTH Parents are required.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    DO NOT disappear ..

In such cases, the Child CAN be "Sealing" to their "Maternal" Grandparents.

You create, a SECOND "Parent-Child" Relationship, for the Child (ie. a SECOND "Set" of Parents).

You simply, ADD the Child, to their "Maternal" Grandparents; and, designate, the "Parent-Child" Relationship, for that Child, to BOTH of his Grandparents; as, "Guardianship".

Then, you CAN, "Seal" the Child, to their "Maternal" Grandparents.

I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
