put any names from my reservation list into my family group. I have tried to follow: 'How do I share ordinances with a family group,' information, but on Step 1 it has 'View Group Reservations' - that doesn't show up for me. So nothing happens.
Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member o the Church ... ]
Just in passing ...
Please be advised, that there are TWO (x2) ways, that you can "Share" the "Temple" Work, of an individual/person, with a "Family Group".
Please be aware, that you CANNOT "Share", the "Temple" Work, of an individual/person, with a "Family Group", if that Work has ALREADY been "Share[d] with the Temple System".
IF, you where the one who "Share[d] with the Temple System"; THEN, you MUST "Unshare" from the "Temple System" FIRST.
IF, you where NOT the one who "Share[d] with the Temple System"; THEN, you CANNOT "Unshare" from the "Temple System"; as, that can ONLY be done by the User/Patron who "Share[d] with the Temple System", in the first instance.
IF, the "System" (ie. 'FamilySearch') was the one who "Share[d] with the Temple System" (ie. AUTOMATICALLY, when (ie. after) a "Reservation" had 'timed-out' and "Expired" (ie. "Lapsed") ; THEN, you CANNOT "Unshare" from the "Temple System" at all; as, that can ONLY be done by the 'FamilySearch'.
That Said ...
The Two (x2) ways are, from:
(1) "My Reservations"; being, your List of "Temple" Work
On the MAIN Top Line Menu, of just about any page/screen, select your "Temple" 'Tab'; and, then, from the 'Drop Down' Menu, select the FIRST "Option"; being, "My Reservations".
Next, on your MAIN List, of "Reservations", you then go to the individual/person, that you want to "Share" with the "Family Group", now you place a "Check"/"Tick", in the "Check Box", in FIRST ('left-hand') Column, beside the individual/person.
Note: You CAN select MULTIPLE individuals/persons (ie. MORE than ONE individual/person) at a time.
.......... [ Rather, than just one individual/person ... ]
Once you have selected the desired individual/person (or, individuals/persons, if MULTIPLE); then ...
Once, you have "Marked" an individual/person (or, individuals/persons) so; next, go back towards the TOP of your List, of "Reservations".
Next, on the SECOND Line Menu; being, "PRINT ... SHARE ... UNRESERVE _ _ _ FILTER ... LEGEND"
Select the SECOND "Option"; being, "SHARE".
Now, from the resulting 'Drop Down' Menu, select the SECOND "Option"; being, "Share with Group".
Select the particular "Ordinances" (ie. one; more; or, all), that you wish to "Share", with the "Family Group".
(2) "Ordinances" 'Tab', of individual/person
On the "Ordinances" 'Tab', of an individual/person ...
On the SECOND Line Menu (ie. Effective Ordinances"); being, "Request ... Print ... Share ... Unreserve"
Select the SECOND "Option"; being, "Share".
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.
Hopefully following this Knowledge Article that follows will help you succeed. There are other links attached to it that you also may need to check out:
Just in passing ...
That is EXACTLY, the "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch', that 'HallNadineAllred1', is referring to:
As an aside ...
I am sorry ...
The point, of this post, has been missed ...
It is, that FIRST "Step", under the "Steps (website)"; where, the confusion lies ...
And, ... understandably so ...
Where it states:
[ As an EXAMPLE ... ]
▬ It would appear, that 'HallNadineAllred1', has "Created" a "Family Group" - all good
▬ And, most likely, after sending "Invites", to that "Family Group", to various Family members ...
.... [ Where, hopefully, at least some Family members, have accepted those invites; and, joined the group ]
.... [ And/or, of course, after being "Approved", by the "Administrator", of that "Family Group" ... ]
.... [ But, of course, NO Other members may have "Joined", as yet - no problems ... ]
▬ Now, after creating, that "Family Group", whether or not, there are OTHER members of that group ...
.... Of course, 'HallNadineAllred1', wants to "Share", some of her "Reservations", with (ie. "In") that group ...
'Lo and behold' ...
The FIRST thing, that "Knowledge Article", directs one to do is, "Display your group’s shared reservations".
That is BOTH, confusing; and, misleading ...
[ In the EXAMPLE ... ]
WHAT is the point, of directing a User/Patron, to the "Display"/"View", the List of "Reservations", that have been "Shared", in a "Family Group"; when, in fact, NO "Reservations have (yet) been, "Shared" with that "Family Group".
If you were the one, who created, that "Family Group"; and, as, the "Creator" (and, automatically, the "Administrator");and, possibly, were, the ONLY current member - of course, NO "Reservations", have (yet) been "Shared".
And, that is what one, is actually "Trying" to do ...
That "Knowledge Article" is 'Titled': How do I share ordinances with a family group?
NOT, "... take me to the List, of "Reservations", that have been, "Shared", with a "Family Group" ..."
In the aforementioned "Knowledge Article"...
That FIRST "Step", under the "Steps (website)" ... definitely NEEDS ... addressing/fixing ... 'revamping' ...
As, there are TWO (x2) ways, to "Share", one's "Reservations", with a "Family Group", either: ...
(1) from one's List, of "My Reservations";
(2) from the "Ordinances" 'Tab', of an individual/person.
Excepting; where, the Work, has ALREADY been "Share[d] with the Temple System"
Where, the Work, MUST be "Unshared", from the "Temple System", FIRST.
I will leave the "Rewording"/"Revamping" to the 'Experts' ...
The WHOLE "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch', of How do I share ordinances with a family group?, NEEDS to be reworded/revamped (ie. "Fixed").
Again, I am sorry ...
Just my thoughts.
1. Hi @ HallNadineAllred1 I have recently created a Family Group but no one has responded yet. However I have entered names for ordinances to be performed i.e baptisms and conformations. The steps that I followed were If following Website instructions go to step 2. as noted hereafter
2. From the drop-down menu, click Reservations.
3. Find each family name that you want to share, and click the box in front of the name.
4. At the top of the list, click Share.
5. Click Share with Group.
6. Click the group that you want.
7. (Optional) Click the box of any ordinances that you do not want to share. (You cannot share any names that you added to your family names list by using the Ordinances Ready feature.)
8. Click Share.
9. (Optional) To view the shared ordinances, click Family Groups.
As Brett mentioned there is confusion with ; The FIRST thing, that "Knowledge Article", directs one to do is, "Display your group’s shared reservations".
Thank you for the posting your query in the Community and the invaluable work that you are doing for your posterity. I trust that this answer is beneficial to you.
Kind regards, Peter A Basford.
Everyone says 'click on Reservations in the drop down menu.' That is where I am stuck - my drop down menu says 'My Reservations,' not 'Reservations,' and the steps indicated for 'Reservations' does not work with 'My Reservations.' So now my question is: Where is 'Reservations?' I must be missing something.
The knowledge article we have been referring to needs some correction. There needs to be a correction in the two bullet points at the beginning, and it should say My Reservations. We will be working on fixing that.
We believe if you will follow the steps outlined by @Basford P A and keep in mind it should say My Reservations, you should have success in adding names from your My Reservations list to your Family Group.
If you continue to have problems, please consider calling FamilySearch support at 1-866-406-1830.
We are all still learning how to use Family Groups, and can hopefully solve these issues together.
Thanks so much to all of you. My question has been answered, and I am now able to share reservations with the group I created.
Update - The team is actively working on updating the article. I'll get back to you when I have more information.
A quick update. The article has been rewritten and sent up for review. I have no idea how long the review process takes, but progress is being made.
