Not (yet) digitalized and not (yet) indexed.

For records that are not yet digitalized and not yet indexed on FamilySearch's website, but the information such as as the film number and other identifying information appears; if we know the name of who we're looking for and the page/image number, will filling out the request form be sufficient? Or is this something that would not be done since the record would have to be searched manually by reviewing microfilm?

For example, indexes for a particular record group are available on a partner-website and it provides the name and page/image number along with the FHL film number. Is providing that information sufficient enough when filling out a record request form? I use the record requests often but wasn't sure in this particular situation.

    My understanding, as seen from comments in FS Community, is that the restrictions as set out in the Catalog in respect of the particular microfilm will influence whether the Look Up Service will provide a copy of the record.

    I believe if the Icon in the catalog leads to a message "You may be able to view this image by visiting one of our partners' sites or the legal record custodian (fees may apply)", then the Look Up Service will NOT provide a copy, for contractual reasons.

    Given you know the image number, if the film would normally be available to view at a Family History Center or Affiliate Library, I think a copy of the record would be provided by the Look Up Service. If you do not know the image number, the situation may be different.

    I was not aware there was such a (record request) form and certainly of where one would submit such a request. There have been many reports of individuals or whole pages being missed in either indexing or filming processes - I have encountered examples myself - but I'm not aware of any way of fixing such problems. Perhaps you could specify your problem here (film number, etc.) so someone might understand why you are not able to view your record. Have you checked the film number in the Catalog? Perhaps its contents are subject to restricted access.

    Please be aware that ...

    IF, a FHL Film has a "DGS" reference/number; THEN, that FHL Film HAS been "Digitised".

    Whereas ...

    As, to whether or not, a FHL Film, has either

    (1) been "Indexed"; and/or,

    (2) is 'On-Line',

    in 'FamilySearch', that is another matter entirely.

    And, is subject to any "Contractual Arrangement/Agreement" between, 'FamilySearch'; and, the particular "Record Custodian".

    And, the principal reason for such; being, that the particular "Record Custodian" has mandated such, in the "Contractual Arrangement/Agreement" between, 'FamilySearch'; and, the particular "Record Custodian".

    Now ...

    That Said ...

    IF, a FHL Film DOES NOT have a "DGS" reference/number; THEN, that FHL Film has NOT been "Digitised".

    And, the principal reason for such; being, that the particular "Record Custodian" has mandared such, in the "Contractual Arrangement/Agreement" between, 'FamilySearch'; and, the particular "Record Custodian".    

    Hence ...

    As to whether or not, 'FamilySearch', would be able to provide, any "Details"/"Information", from a FHL Film, WIIL depend on the "Contractual Arrangement/Agreement" between, 'FamilySearch'; and, the particular "Record Custodian".

    And ...

    Such is regardless; as to, whether or not, such, is a available, on a "Partner" Website.
