Birth date error - how to correct

I am finding a number of documents that the birth date is calculated by taking the death date minus the age. However, the age was index incorrectly and therefore the birth date is wrong. I am trying to learn how to submit a correction. Birth date or age is not something that shows under the Edit option.

Thank you for your question. If you know the correct birthdate, or just the year, go to the person's page, scroll down to birth and click edit. Make the correction and choose the standardized version. Then save. Thank you for being so observant.

If the ages / dates in question cannot be edited, follow the advice provided in regard to the person page entry, but also add a note against the source to explain the error and show the correct age of death (and approximate birthdate).

FamilySearch is working on making more records editable, but what you can and can't edit is variable at present. Unlike with other websites, there is no provision to report such errors for correction by an administrator.
