My father was surrendered at birth in 1920 to a foster mother, Dora, but not legally adopted. His birth mother, Edna Norene, gave false information about the father and her own surname, and the name she gave the baby was never used. The foster mother renamed the baby and changed her own surname to match his. Twenty-two years later a delayed birth record was created for my father which stated that Dora was the mother (false).

Therefore my dad has two birth records on file, under two different surnames. DNA evidence fully supports his birth mother's identity. DNA has linked me and my sibs to a possible grandfather--a man with a very common surname, but we can't be 100% sure of this. So both documents contain truth, and both contain falsehoods. I have submitted this story to Family Search, but have not received a reply. It is frustrating that I cannot attach a comment to either birth record.
