How can I find a competent and trustworthy paid researcher to help our family with finding more of our British Ancestors? What should I expect from him/her so that I can be reasonably sure that I am receiving a fair return on my investment? I would appreciate hearing what works and does not work.

If you've got a major project or need records that are only available at an archive, then a professional genealogist is best. I assume you have exhausted all easily accessible online sources.

But if you're just looking for a quick tip or lookup of a record, there are plenty of people on this forum, myself included, who would gladly help.
