What is the symbol before the "K" in the last name of line one. This symbol appears before several surnames. Thanks for the help.

    It is fancy script writing. Pretty but sometimes confusing!

    Yes, it’s an embellishment of that scribe”s (capital) K. There must be a dozen examples on that image, including several middle initials.
