FamilySearch failed, is what happened. But they're also failing to admit to it, unfortunately. They keep saying that they wanted an interface that was "straightforward and intuitive" or "less intimidating", and have apparently ignored all of the user feedback saying that what they have actually achieved is the exact and polar opposite of all of those things.

They should have fixed the existing problems instead of re-inventing the wheel. How disappointing.

The car and wheels are still there - they're just rotating a little funny - maybe like it went flat on one side and ran into a barrier on the other. Hopefully things get back in alignment soon. It appears FamilySearch may need our help to do so...please give them Feedback (through the feedback button right-hand side of Search Results page) for any Results that are out of place.
Otherwise (trying to be helpful) - try avoiding using the Life Event section of Search and narrow Search Results through Record Options: Type (scroll further down on the More Options/Advanced Search) and the filters that become available when Searching. I hope this helps narrow your Search sufficiently for the time being.
