Why can't we share names with the Temple when previously shared but never done after 10+ years ?

I have names that were reserved and shared with the Temple decades ago, but for some reason, their work never got done. If I "unreserve" them, their icon turns green. If I then click on "reserve", it shows up on my personal reservation list as one I am planning on doing, but I can't do the males. The option to "Share with Temple" is not available since it was already shared with the Temple decades ago. So all these people are just floating in the system. If their work has not been done after 10-20 years of being shared with the Temple, it must mean there is a glitch somewhere. Is there any way to start over with them and "Share with the Temple"? It doesn't work if I unreserve them and reserve them again.

    FYI

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happend to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    FIRSTLY ...

Not in relation, to what you have already done, for those, that you now, CANNOT "Re-Share" with the "Temple" System ...

    But ...

    As an aside ...

    For future reference ...

[ And, of course, in hind sight ... ]

IF. you find, individuals/persons, whose "Temple" Work, was "Share[d] with the Temple System", long ago (eg. a Decade of MORE); and, appears to be in 'Limbo' (ie. 'No Mans Land') - NOT Actioned; THEN, I would humbly suggest that you DO NOT "Reserve" such; but, instead, REPORT such, here in this 'Category' of "Temple", in the "Q and A" Section, of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum - so that, such can be investigated.

The reason I suggest such is twofold:

    (1) As you have found out, you cannot ,"Re-Share" them, with the "Temple" System; and,

    (2) In the first instance, there REALLY needs to be "Specialty" Work done, behind the scenes, by 'FamilySearch', to address/fix the matter, of those individuals/persons, being STUCK in 'Limbo' (ie. 'No Mans Land') - NOT Actioned, for all those Years.

Prior, to the somewhat RECENT 'Demise', of the 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case Management System, I have had to submit 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case(s), to get individuals/persons, that were STUCK in 'Limbo' (ie. 'No Mans Land') - NOT Actioned, for many Years, released from that 'Status' of being in 'Limbo' in the "Temple" System. Plus, I have had to help/assist, other Users/Patrons, who are Member of the Church, do the same.

Admittedly, in the aforementioned cases, none, where every "Re-Shared" with the "Temple" System.

    But ...

    That Said ...

Hopefully, by "Requesting" that 'FamilySearch' investigate, the matter as to WHY, an individual/person, that was "Share[d] with the Temple System", all those Years ago; and, now, STUCK in 'Limbo' (ie. 'No Mans Land') - NOT Actioned, that MAY 'trigger', the 'Status' of being in 'Limbo', to be addressed/fixed; whereby, the "Temple" Work WILL actually get done (ie. sooner, rather than latter).

As I have already suggested ...

    Just for future reference ...

[ And, of course, in hind sight ... ]

    Now ...

    SECONDLY ...

As to those that you CANNOT "Re-Share" with the "Temple" System ...

    There are two options:

    (1) As you have already surmised, "Release" your "Reservation", in the hope that they will EVENTUALLY get "Reserved", and, the "Temple" Work undertaken - certainly NOT the most favourable option.

    OR, rather ...

    (2) Provide the "Details" [ie. 'FamilySearch Person Identifiers' (PIDs)] of ALL those individuals/persons concerned, here in this post of yours; so that, 'FamilySearch' can, investigate; and, HOPEFULLY address/fix (ie. Re-Set) the "Temple" Work 'Status' of such individuals/persons, again BACK to the 'Status' of being "Share[d] with the Temple System" - certainly the MOST favourable option.

    Nothing ventured, nothing gained ...

    Who knows ...

We can live in hope ...

    Good Luck.

    Just my thoughts.

Here are some names that were shared with the Temple 10+ years ago. Can FamilySearch see why these names were never done? These were all shared in 2007 except the last one was 2004.

There are many factors that can affect how long a name waits on the temple list. I have had male names on there for 7+ years until my son served in the temple before leaving on his mission and got many of those names complete for me. Right now when you share a name to the temple it stay in your temple district. If there are lots of people bringing their own names then names do not get pulled off the list quickly .

I once heard that the average time for waiting was over 5 years for male names on the shared temple list so you are not alone in waiting. The good news is that things are going to change, Ordinances Ready is one change that can help get names completed faster because they pull names out of the "wait line" of the temple because it finds names by looking at your section of the tree. If you want Ron Tanner's RootsTech video about what is coming to FamilyTree for church members he talks about a global temple list where it will be the oldest names get done first and all temples will pull from the same list which will help with balancing busy and slower temple lists. It will be good if you name list can be reviewed but you may still have to continue to wait for shared names to be done.
