How come the link to ancestry asks us sign in? It says it is only available for institutions and ask for sign in user name and password.
@Casos Karen Larkin
If you are asking about the link that is available from the Search Records box of the details page of one of your ancestors who is in Family Tree, when you click the link for any of the partner sites listed in that box, you receive a reminder that you will be leaving FamilySearch and will actually be going to the partner site. If you are already signed in, you won't have to sign in again, but for security reasons, most sites will log you out if you are inactive for any length of time. This is to protect your account with them.
If you are not talking about working from Family Tree, could you please be more specific about where you are working? Perhaps in a Family History Center where the Institutional version of Ancestry.com is available for guests who sign into their FamilySearch accounts to use the Family History Center portal?
If you are working from a Family History Center, your question does need to be directed to that Community category. Please respond to this post and I can move your question to that Community Help Center category where you can learn more about working from a Family History Center.
I look forward to your reply if you need some more detailed assistance.
@Casos Karen Larkin . Although usually after you have signed in to your Member account in Family Search, you can cross over to one of our partner sites with out have to log in again. But occasionally the system requests that additional log in information. If it is Ancestry, just look in the upper right corner of the screen in Ancestry.com and click on Sign in. Your user name and Password may be the same as for Family Search, or they may be different, depending on how you set up your Ancestry.com account initially.
If you need assistance in accessing Ancestry, from Family Search, please let us know.
