Hi, I need help with finding more information on my ancestor. His name is Go Say (G4CB-79W). All I know is that he has a son, my great grandfather who was born in the Philippines. My ancestor Go Say was born in China, we don't know when and where. His birthyear and his son's birthyear are only estimates, we also do not know when and where he died. What we are sure is that my Grandfather who is my ancestors grandson was born in 1925 in Cebu Philippines.

I am still learning about Philippine and Chinese records myself!

There is a post made for another patron about her research in Metro Manila (where your great grandfather was married) and another area of the Philippines. It will give you the same direction for sure.

Utilizing every link in the FamilySearch Wiki for the locations you are aware of is a great way to find the "how" to research and what to look for.

Using the FamilySearch Catalog for those locations will open up many places to search. Unfortunately, a lot of the records viewable online are not indexed and will need to be searched page by page. I would start by trying to find the birth record of your grandfather. It says it is a family possession? Do you have a copy? A birth or death record should give more information about Apolinar and his parents. Again, you may have to search page by page through hundreds of pages from the sources you can find in the Catalog and/or the Wiki.

I viewed your ancestors and I would like to point out that the marriage record for your grandfather Apolinar is also listed as the marriage date and place for your great-grandfather Fabio, so that should be corrected.

Please let us know where you have searched so far and what you have tried to look in. That will help us know where else to look.

    I have some ideas!

If "Go Say" came from China, have you tried searching his surname "Go" in Chinese?

His son uses a surname "Gonimil". You can make a group of this surname and share the link(URL) of the person in Family Tree to them, someone might be add some information with them.

Do you have the names in Chinese characters? The first step in tracing Chinese genealogy is to get the names in Chinese characters. Without that it is really difficult to even start.
