incorrect date on ordinance
My great grandfather William Heber Taylor KWCG-5JJ has baptism and confirmation dates of 6 June 1880 on Family Search Family Tree. He was born 19 April 1873 so he would have been 7 years old in 1880. My family records (obtained from his son Gailord Lee Taylor many years ago) say he was baptized 6 June 1881. That would make sense since he was 8 years old at that time. My records also indicate that I found his baptismal date in the Harrisville Ward Records, but unfortunately, I did not record all the information for the source when I looked it up (also done many years ago). I do not have an original source that I can attach. Is this enough information to correct the ordinance on Family Tree?

Hello. Thank you for asking the question about your ancestor's ordinance date discrepancy.
In checking the person page for your great grandfather William Heber Taylor (KWCG-5JJ) we noted that there were a couple of merges which may be part of the reason you are seeing a difference.
Ordinance information in Family Tree is from official sources. The date in Family Tree could be earlier or later than you expected.
Here are typical reasons for the differences:
- If the date is earlier than your records indicate, your personal records could contain information for duplicate ordinances. Family Tree displays the earliest date ordinances were completed.
- A duplicate record could be in Family Tree for the person. The earlier date probably shows with the duplicate record. Search for duplicates, and merge them.
Follow the following article to find where and when duplicates or merges have occurred for your ancestor.
Please look for duplicate records and previous merges in the record of your ancestor. If you still feel there is an error please contact us again and include any relevant information about your review of possible merge/duplicate issues and evidence you found or can provide to support your concern. We can then ask our experts in this sort of thing to look over your concern and respond to you with what they find.
We hope this will be helpful and wish you success in your research.
