    Welcome to the FamilySearch community. Thank you for the time you spend asking questions.

    We have found the most effective way to share ' viewing only ' for family members to open their own free account. By doing this you can share and collaborate with each other.

    Members of your own family will want to contribute and probably have ' Memories ' you can share as a family and add them to ' Memories' in each members Family Tree.

    Yes having your family members create their own accounts and then linking their branch of the tree to yours is the correct way to share your information with them. Then of course you will be able to see anything that they add except, for the living individuals.

    They will need to start their tree by adding any living people before they can add the deceased links from your branch of Family Tree and so see the work you have entered.

    We currently do not have a way for a family group to share a private space and work together on it.
