I would like to learn whether the house in which my Swedish great grandfather and grandfather lived still exists, and if so, the current street address. The house was/is located in Kalmar in the Malmen district.
Church Household Examination books indicate from 1870 until the 1890s the family lived at Malmen 168. My great grandfather’s name was Carl August Johannson. He may sometimes have used the name Bram, which was his båtsman name.

There are some old maps of Kalmar available to buy, 1906,1910 and 1926. It looks on Google as if the area has been rebuilt a bit. You may have to examine and identify the address on an old map and then go from there. Good luck.
