having problems determining a father/son relationship

I am having difficulty with a relationship in my research. Below is the problem:

Petruonella Roosmalen bor 9 Dec 1816 in Uden maries Johannes Sommers born 21 Jan 1807 in Veghel. The are married on 15 June 1839 in Uden.

They have 4 children Fredrica, Martinus, Antonius and Maria

Johannes dies in 1847.

Petronella remarries 17 February 1849 in Uden to Albertus van der Weijst born 5 August 1821 in Uden and dies on 2 Dec 1893

They have 1 child Johannes van der Weijst born 24 Nov 1849.

Petruonella Roosmalen dies on 5 Jan 1850 in Uden

Johannes van der Weijst dies 1 January 1851

The problem is that Johannes is listed as both the son of Albertus van der Weijst and Lambertus van der Wijst.

Bron: boek, Part: 1538, Period: 1850-1859, Uden, access code 7652, inventory number 1538, Bevolkingsregister Hoeven, record number 6, folio 165

This record lists Johannes as the son of Lambertus and shows his mother and step brothers and sisters (Martinus, Antonius and Maria)

Bron: boek, Part: 8012, Period: 1849, Uden, access code 50, inventory number 8012, Geboorteregister Uden 1849, record number 141

This record shows him as the son of Albertus van der Weijst

Brabant Historical Information Centre in Brabant (Netherlands), Population register Bron: boek, Part: 1535, Period: 1840-1849, Uden, access code 7652, inventory number 1535, Bevolkingsregister Hoeven, record number 3, folio 148

This record shows him as the son of Albertus and lists again his step brothers and sisters (Fredrica, Martins, Antonius and Maria Sommers)

This record shows him as the son of Lambertus van der Wijst and again lists his step siblings.

I can not find a marriage for Lambertus and Petronella. I can not find a reference for a Albertus Lambertus van der Wijst or Weijst or for Lambertus Albertus vander wijst or Weijst.

My feeling is that Albertus and Lambertus are the same person but I can’t verify it. Can you help?

Thanks

    Kay,

This is an interesting problem. I found the death record for Johannes van der Weijst and the father's name was listed as Lambertus van der Wijst. This could be the cause of the discrepancy. The person writing the information might not have heard the first name correctly because they are so close. Here is a link to the death record so you can see the record. Like you, I am inclined to believe that Albertus and Lambertus are the same person.

I agree that they are the same person. I also think that Lambertus was written by mistake instead of Albertus. Therefore, Albertus was not actually known as Lambertus. This is assuming someone else wrote on the population register.

thank you both for your answers. There were several concerns. The last name on some records was weijst and on other wijst. Lambertus was listed on more than one record as the father. so i really appreciate you support in recognizing Albertus as the father.

    Thanks

The names Lambertus and Albertus were commonly used interchangeably. Both my father and mother (here near Antwerp, Belgium) had an uncle who was named Lambertus, but who was always called "Nonkel Albert."
