This Jens Petersen born in 1855 is correct for being my ancestor and his mother's name was Maren. He later married a Karen Beck after immigrating who was from this Odense DK area.

He immigrated in 1878 with a brother Andrew and he is not listed in the census. I do have a possible record of their immigration registration. I have other relatives that would like some advice to link these records. Jean

Hello Jean, can you share the immigration record you have? Do you already have or are interested in the 1845, 1850 censuses for the family?

I only have searched the 1860 census because Jens was born in 1855 and I only have his mother's first name and a photo of her. I also have a marriage of James in 1879 so something changed as if they contracted to go to Australia when they registered and then only got to America.

Probable match for married Maren PedersenClipboard01 and her son Anders.

I'm wondering how you are making a connection (that's your question isn't it) between the above emigration and your family. Anders and Jens are seen in the Danish records with their patronymic name of Jensen. I don't really know if the emigration record would be for Jensen or Pedersen. It is possible the sons leave from Aalborg but it is a long distance from where they are young and grew up. Do you have a christening for Jens? In order to match your potential emigration his name should be Jens Christian.

Possible match for the person you show in your posted record. Jens, born 20 December 1854 to unmarried Maren Pedersdatter, a renter living in Martofte. The father of the child is Therman Jørgensen. Maren is the widow of farmer Jens Hansen in Martofte, 39 years old. So this Jens is named, Jens Jørgen Pedersen. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-99Z6-2L6M?cc=2078555&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQGD8-P5HS

I have a copy of the birthdate on James Christian Petersen death record. It was 7 Sept 1855.

If your date is correct then we should see a christening record that matches. Have you found that?

The items I found are based on the original image you shared. If Jens didn't live in Stubberup then my info is incorrect.

I would recommend your sharing the US information so I can review the connection to Denmark. That would include his spouse's information including birth date, marriage, residence, death. It is easy for errors to be made when there are so many names that are the same.

another relative sent me this christening record and 18 is 7 Sept 1855 and the name is correct. Not sure how to read where it is and i do see that the mother is Maren Jensdatter.

I'm sorry, I don't see a christening record. Your photo is a census for 1860, no date of birth is given, only an age of 5 years old for Jens.
